Farmers have a saying you’ll hear spoken on our farm, It’s a weather-breeder day. One of us will say, “It’s a gorgeous day,” and the other will say “yes, it’s a weather-breeder day.” A “weather-breeder day” is your quintessential perfect day: a deep blue cloudless sky, clear fresh air, a gentle breeze, warm sun, and low humidity. Such perfection, we predict will breed stormy weather the next day.
Yesterday, I had a perfect day! My creative project was taking form. The first draft was written. I had made it past my inner critic. All day long, I accomplished things with ease; I was flooded with creative ideas. I felt fully healthy, vitally alive, wildly expansive, and radiantly joyful. I’d done it. I’d broken free of old beliefs and self-sabotaging habits. I’d outrun my critic; I was euphoric. In a moment of crystal clarity, I experienced my authentic self, my true self and I loved who I was. I went to bed reveling in the experiences of the day.
This morning, I awoke and immediately began noticing little sensations that might mean I was getting a cold. I began searching for other symptoms—is that a headache? Is this an allergy, a cold, COVID? I recognized this pattern. It was all too familiar—my fabulous days, trigger health symptoms that if allowed, will slow me down and even stop me. Inside I shouted, NO, NO, this can’t happen again. This time is HAS to be different. During my morning meditation, a thought dawned—‘it’s a weather-breeder’— yesterday I’d had a personal weather-breeder day. Today’s stormy resistance was born of yesterday’s shining success.
Not so coincidently, a friend and I had discussed this very phenomenon yesterday morning—how the day following a great accomplishment, we often manifest physical symptoms of injury or illness. She told me she took great comfort from a blog written by Dr. Joe Dispenzer. In the blog, Dr. Joe shared how every time he is about to take some giant leap forward or gains some major insight, he develops symptoms of an illness or physical injury. Dr. Joe Dispenzer internationally recognized genius in the field of personal growth and healing develops self-sabotaging symptoms!!! We see ourselves with new eyes and with more compassion.
With the help of some energy shifting techniques, ALL my symptoms are gone. I feel vibrant, creative, and fully alive. The sky is blue, and the sun is shining.
I wonder—
- What is it that makes it so difficult for us to live at the altitude of joy and love? What do we fear in being fully well, authentic, and empowered?
- Why do we so often want to cover our radiant light with dark, black clouds?
In moments like today, I take encouragement and from Marianne Williamson’s inspiring quote:
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Wishing you the beauty and joy of a weather-breeder day!!!
